Wander between the Canal and the Mohawk River, explore the fascinating geologic potholes, check out the hydroelectric dam, watch boats come in and out of Lock 17, sit on a bench and stare at the rock climbers.
For rock climbing permits, call 315-823-2400 M-F, or 315-823-1122 on weekends; they can be picked up at City Hall during regular business hours. You'll need a photo ID, proof of insurance if you're bringing a group, and a Parental Consent form if you're under 18 years old.

Rent canoes or kayaks, or bring your own boat -- complete services including overnight docking, showers, and more are available at Rotary Park.
Erie Canal bikeway
Bike, walk, stroll, snowmobile, this section of the recreational canalway trail is paved for year round use.
